2-MMC is a synthetic designer drug with psychoactive effects. 2-MMC, short for 2-Methylmethcathinone, has stimulant and empathogenic properties similar to those of amphetamines and MDMA. It belongs to the family of synthetic cathinones. The drug is typically offered as a crystalline white powder. Taking 2-MMC can pose serious health risks, including increased heart rate, high blood pressure, agitation, and hallucinations. The exact composition of the substance can vary, as it is often produced in unregulated laboratories, which significantly increases the risk for users. In many countries, the production, sale, and use of synthetic cathinones are illegal. In the Netherlands, however, 2-MMC is not yet listed under the Opium Act, just like several other designer drugs.
How 2-MMC works
2-MMC affects the neurotransmitters' dopamine, serotonin, and noradrenaline. It temporarily increases the availability of these chemicals in the brain, which can lead to:
- A heightened sense of energy
- Feelings of euphoria and happiness
- Increased sensitivity and alertness
- Increased talkativeness
- More social behavior
- Mild empathogenic effects
The effects of 2-MMC are generally shorter and milder than those of MDMA or amphetamines, but comparable to other cathinones.
Possible side effects
As with most stimulants, 2-MMC can cause unwanted effects, especially at higher doses or with frequent use. These may include:
- Heart palpitations and high blood pressure
- Jaw clenching and muscle tension
- Loss of appetite
- Anxiety, paranoia, or low mood during comedown
- Dehydration, especially when combined with dancing or warm environments
- Risk of psychological dependence with frequent use
- Sleep disturbances and restlessness
Duration of effects
The duration depends on how the drug is taken (nasally, orally, rectally), but in general you can expect:
- Onset: within 15 to 45 minutes
- Peak: 1 to 2.5 hours
- Total duration: 4 to 6 hours
- Comedown: can last for several hours, often with fatigue or hangover-like symptoms
Usage and dosage
Note: 2-MMC is not intended for human consumption. The following information is provided solely for harm reduction purposes.
Common methods of administration:
- Oral: powder in capsules or dissolved in liquid
- Nasal: snorted, which has a faster onset but can be painful
- Rectal: sometimes reported by users, but harder to dose accurately
Typical dosage:
- Light: 50–80 mg
- Moderate: 90–125 mg
- High: 125 mg and above
2-MMC is available from Funcaps in crystal powder, crystal blocks, and pellet form. It may vary in color from white to purple.
How to store 2-MMC
To store 2-MMC correctly and safely, keep it in a cool, dry place. Use a tightly sealed, airtight container, and keep it out of reach of children and pets. Ideally, store 2-MMC at temperatures below 20°C.
Difference between 2-MMC and 4-MMC
2-MMC and 4-MMC are both synthetic stimulants from the cathinone class and are chemically related to the active compound in khat, a plant commonly used in parts of Africa and the Middle East. The main difference between these substances lies in their chemical structure and the fact that the research chemical offered here is still legal for research purposes.
2-MMC experiences
Below are reviews from customers at Funcaps:
“After thorough testing, I can highly recommend this. It offers the perfect balance between euphoria and alertness for pleasure. Be cautious—don’t use it too often!”
“One of the best research chems of all time. Can be used in many situations. Especially the sex (if it works out) is epic! Quality and delivery are always consistent. Also one of the best priced at Funcaps if you buy in bulk. It's a real shame it’ll be banned soon.”
