2-MMC effect and experiences: here is everything you need to know!

What is 2-MMC?

2-MMC (2-Methylmethcathinone) is a synthetic substance belonging to the cathinones. This group of research chemicals is known for its psychoactive effects. Cathinones promote the production of serotonin in the brain. This gives you more energy and stimulates euphoric feelings. It is a group of chemicals with similar effects to amphetamines like speed and MDMA, but 2-MMC is more comparable to speed, also known as pep (amphetamine), than to MDMA. This popular designer drug usually comes in the form of a crystal-like white powder, tablets (pills) or capsules.

2MMC: What are the effects?

2-MMC is a research chemical similar in structure and effects to substances such as 3-CMC, 3-MMC and 4-MMC. Although little scientific research has been done on it, user experiences do give a rough idea of its effects. These experience reports show that 2MMC usually has a stimulating and social effect.

• After taking 2MMC, people often experience:
• An increase in energy and alertness;
• A feeling of euphoria and happiness;

What is its effect on the neurotransmitters (RC)?

2-MMC affects the central nervous system by acting on the release and reuptake of dopamine and serotonin. These neurotransmitters are involved in mood, energy and focus. Due to their increased availability, users often experience euphoria, alertness and more energy.

According to users, the duration of action of 2-MMC is between 3 and 6 hours, depending on dose, way of ingestion and metabolism. Compared to 3-MMC, 2-MMC seems slightly milder in effect, although this has not yet been scientifically confirmed. Because little research has been done on the effects of 2-MMC, caution in use and interpretation of experience remains important.

How fast does 2-MMC work and how long does it last?

The duration of effects can vary greatly, depending on several factors. First of all, the dose (the amount you take) plays a crucial role. In addition, the purity of the substance has an influence; the purer, the longer the effects often last. Your personal experience also counts, as experienced people can react differently from beginners.

The method of ingestion plays a big role in how quickly you start noticing effects. If you snort 2-MMC in powder form, it will kick in faster than if you swallow it. Lastly, your individual biological factors play a role. In general, the effects of 2-MMC begin within a few minutes to half an hour after ingestion and can last for up to 3 to 6 hours. The peak of the RC usually occurs after 1 hour after ingestion, at which point the effects become most intense. After this peak, the intensity gradually decreases (‘comedown’), which can cause fatigue or even a feel hungover.

Use and dosage

Please note that 2-MMC is not intended for human consumption. This information is intended for harm reduction purposes. Common ways of ingestion:

1. Oral: in the form of tablets, powder in capsule, powder dissolved in liquid or powder in a rolling paper;
2. Nasal: sniffing, which gives a faster effect but can be more painful;

A rule of thumb is 1.5 milligrams per KG of the subject's body weight.

Risks and possible side effects

Since little exclusive research is yet known about the drug, it is unclear what constitutes a dangerous dosage. Moreover, we do not know whether the drug can be taken with other research chemicals, drugs or alcohol. As of course with most stimulants, 2-MMC can also cause unwanted effects. This can lead to side effects such as:

• Heart palpitations and increased blood pressure;
• Jaw clenching and muscle tension;

• Feelings of anxiety, paranoia or dejection during comedown;
• Dehydration, especially in combination with a lot of dancing or hot weather;

Storing 2-MMC best

For proper and safe storage of 2-MMC, store it in a cool, dry place. Use a tightly sealed, airtight container and keep it out of reach of children and pets. 2-MMC retains its effects best at a temperature below 20°C.

Can you still buy 2-MMC?

In short, yes. Unlike the recently made illegal 3CMC, 2MMC is not yet banned. The government has been drafting the law banning multiple research chemicals at once. It will be handled in the Amendment of the Opium Act from the first of July, which means it will soon be banned.
