Synthetic cathinones are research chemicals that are similar in effects to banned substances, such as MDMA and cocaine. These new psychoactive substances include well-known RCs, such as flakka and 3-MMC, as well as lesser-known substances, such as a-PCYP. A-PCYP is a promising research chemical with mainly stimulant effects. In this article, we will take a closer look at A-PCYP, looking at how this innovative substance works and its effects.
What is a-PCYP?
A-PCYP is a research chemical belonging to the cathinone class of research chemicals. Its chemical structure is as follows: 2-cyclohexyl-1-phenyl-2-(pyrrolidin-1-yl)ethan-1-one. This still relatively unknown RC is a chemical analog of A-PVP and A-PiHP. A-PCYP is known for its stimulant and psychoactive properties and is studied in crystal form. A-PCYP has a particular mode of action. It acts like a-PVP, namely as an inhibitor of dopamine reuptake, but because of its alpha-cyclohexyl structure, a-PCYP is twice as strong as a-PVP.
a-PCYP versus a-PiHP
While a-PCYP may be a chemical analogue of other research chemicals, such as a-PiHP, it still shows some crucial differences, such as its more potent effects and its focus on stimulation and euphoria. a-PiHP, for example, affects receptors of serotonin and norepinephrine in addition to dopamine receptors, which means that it also reduces inhibitions and increases libido. Another important difference is that a-PCYP is still legally available for research. A-PiHP has been banned since April 2024.
a-PCYP experience
Very little research has been done on a-PCYP crystals and their effects. There are only a few experience reports available, but the average a-PCYP experience that emerges from these is predominantly positive due to the stimulating effects of the substance, such as:
- Euphoric feelings
- Social behavior
- Increased energy
- Increased alertness
- More focused
Because a-PCYP is inhibited twice as fast, you need to take very little of the RC. However, because of the cravings that can occur, people are quick to take more and thus overdose. So it is very important that you weigh your dosage carefully and stick to the prescribed dose.
Dosage and duration of action of the RC
How long the a-PCYP effect lasts depends on the dose and the method of study. You can take the research chemicals orally, or you can smoke them. When taken orally, the effects will last about 4-6 hours, but me smoking only 2-3 hours. However, the effects are even more intense when smoking. Precisely because a-PCYP is twice as strong as, say, a-PVP, it is advisable to start with a light dose of the substance. The standard dosage is approximately 10-20 milligrams of active substance when taken orally and 5-10 milligrams when smoked.
