You have not been able to buy GHB at Funcaps for a long time. GHB is a recreational drug, which provided calm and peaceful behaviour to the user. However, GHB has been illegal in the Netherlands for many years, as the liquid has been placed on Opium List I. Therefore, this page is also for research purposes only. Also, the alternatives to GHB you can buy online from us are only suitable for research purposes. The research chemicals are therefore not suitable for human consumption.

      What is GHB?

GHB is the abbreviation for gamma-hydroxybutyric acid. It is an illegal drug, which has become known for the relaxing effects it induces. GHB is more often called liquid XTC, but it does not resemble XTC at all in its effects. XTC has a more uplifting effect, while GHB is more narcotic. This is why it was often used as a rape drug. Do you think GHB has been put in your drink? You can also buy a GHB test. This test shows GHB in the urine.
GHB is available in small bottles of liquid, which you can drink pure. GHB was also sold in powder form, which could be dissolved in a liquid and drunk. Or you could buy the drug in capsules.

      Origin of the drug

In the past, GHB was not used recreationally, but was used as an anaesthetic during operations. It was also a sleep aid, which helped against insomnia. However, there were so many side effects and risks associated with GHB that its medical use was stopped. In some countries, however, GHB is still used to sedate animals, for instance.

      How GHB works

GHB is colourless and odourless. It is a liquid with a salty taste. The liquid affects substances in your brain that transmit stimuli between cells. The first effects are felt as early as twenty minutes after ingestion. The strongest effects of GHB occur after about three quarters of an hour. This depends on whether you take the drug on a full or empty stomach. After three hours, the effects decrease again.

      The effects of GHB

So GHB is mainly known for its narcotic effects. However, it proved difficult to dose the drug, so the effects could vary considerably from person to person. At lower doses, people experienced a pleasant intoxication, feeling happy and relaxed. Anxiety disappeared and inhibitions were removed. A user also started talking more to other people and sexual arousal often remained. GHB was mainly perceived as positive, as no hangover followed intake.

      Risks

Because GHB is difficult to dose, there is a high risk of overdosing or even overdosing. Unpleasant effects then frequently occurred, such as:

      • Muscle weakness
      • Difficulty breathing
      • Cardiac arrhythmia
      • Dizziness
      • Headaches
      • Nausea
      • Feeling drowsy
      • Loss of memory
      • Uncontrollable sleep

If you take too high a dose, you may fall into a deep sleep by yourself, from which it is difficult to wake up. In an overdose, you may even fall into a coma and serious breathing problems may occur. Especially the combination with alcohol ensures that many serious side effects can occur.

      Dosage of GHB

A standard bottle of GHB contains about 4 to 5 millilitres of liquid. This makes dosing more difficult. There is only a minute difference between the amount of GHB needed for the desired effects and the amount needed to black out. Even half a two-millilitre bottle can be too much for some people.

      Legality

Not only did the danger of overdose cause GHB to become illegal in many countries, but the high addiction risk also contributed to this. Indeed, if one took several doses a day and did so for several consecutive weeks, there was a high chance of developing a dependency towards the substance. Attempting to stop often led to severe withdrawal symptoms, such as depression, psychosis, seizures, confusion and delirium. As a result, GHB has been included on the Opium List I since 2012, classifying the drug as a hard drug and thus banned in the Netherlands.
