AMT belongs to the Tryptamine group and is a monoamine alkaloid. The structure of tryptamine is similar to that of the amino acid tryptophan. Tryptamine is found in plants, mammals and humans. In addition, tryptamine is the basic structure for the substituted tryptamines.
