Cross contamination means a certain surface, in this case the dosing syringe, being contaminated with a certain bacteria or other unclean source. Moreover, the syringe is also provided with an excellent seal in between the cylinder and the plunger. The reason being that we do not want more to be squirted out of the dosing syringe than is intended by the person conducting the experiment. Also note that the dosing syringe is supplied without a needle.
